I forgot to make a post about this yesterday, but it was the 25th birthday of something very important: the Nintendo Game Boy. Before there was clamshell design, before there was a backlight, before there was rechargeable batteries, before there was even color, there was this brick. Originally, it was only available in grey, but in 1995, several colored versions of the console, called the “Play It Loud” line, were released. Available were red, green, yellow, blue, see-through, white, and black (shown here). This is the very first console I ever owned. Before this, I only ever played games over at my cousin’s or friends’ houses. My dad brought it home from a school he worked at. It was in the confiscation bin (missing the screen protector, I might add) with Pokemon Yellow, and I guess the kid never picked it up, so dad brought them home to me, and I was hooked. As you can see, it still works to this day. So here’s to you, Game Boy, you still have the best handheld game library of all-time.

This is a short cover of the infamous Nobody’s Hero song from the DKC Show. Better known as the OH MY GOD DK WATCH OUT meme song. Listen at my failed attempt at singing this magical tune

makes a wonderful country ballad
